Ministry: Early Trax

EarlytraxIt's depressing that Al J. is so intimidated by his own brilliance that he continues to disown With Sympathy. With Sympathy is not only far and away Ministry's greatest album, but it is also one of the greatest achievements in recorded music history in that it humiliated the band so severely, they took the hardest of all hard left turns into Angryland — complete with IV drug addiction and poor hygiene — and they've been running scared ever since. While this remains one of rock and roll's most heartbreaking tragedies, a small but encouraging step in the right direction can be found with Early Trax. A sort of expanded edition of Wax Trax!'s Twelve Inch Singles, Early Trax compiles the band's only other true moment of brilliance, "Every Day Is Halloween" (why yes, the night does belong to Michelob) with "All Day," "Nature of Love," remixes and some previously unreleased rarities from the 1980-1984 era, all of which provide ample, added proof against Al J's claims that Arista forced him to sing with a British accent. Please, just own up to it already. The world needs easy access to "Work for Love." (iTunes: Early Trax by Ministry)
